PCs and Macs in perfect harmony at Evia
At marketing and media service house Evia, page layout, graphical design and other such tasks are performed with Apple Macintosh computers, whereas copywriters and administration use PCs with Windows. Both types are hooked up to the same network. At best, there have been some 250 computers in the network, 80 of which were Macs. At present, there are around ten servers in the network, with Microsoft, Linux, and UNIX operating systems. This mixed network runs well when it is as standardised as possible. - What is crucial is that we have a clear game plan. Windows and Mac operating systems differ from each other to the extent that nothing is necessarily obvious, ICT Manager Erkki Vuorela from Evia explains. Evia and Businessforum have already been partners for ten years. The cooperation has covered servers as well as PC and Mac products. - From our point of view, Businessforum can offer a nice business concept and a light, efficient organisation. Also, each of their employees is skilled in many things. Businessforum has built up a functioning international network of channels, so in some situations we have received equipment directly from abroad. They display a will to develop and improve their services - the right attitude, Vuorela says.
